[Diabetes-talk] Pancreas Transplantation

Hi Nef,
I think officially you would not be a diabetic if you had a pancreas
transplant. As long as your blood glucose levels stay in the right range
when you eat more carbohydrates than you should you would officially not
have diabetes.
Please realize that organ damage that may have happened before the pancreas
transplant will not necessarily correct itself. For the most part any damage
is already there for example if you had heart problems the artery damage may
get worse
I don't claim to be a medical expert so I strongly urge that you see a
doctor who specializes in diabetes and he/she will probably do a range of
tests and then may or may not have you see a more specialized physician.
You should always do your best to keep your diabetes in check and have a
qualified doctor.
I hope this helps some.
Regards,
Ed Bryant

Please excuse my ignorance here.
Would one no longer be a diabetic if one were to get a pancreas transplant?
