Good Morning Family and Friends!!

Bern here!!

Back from a wedding and visiting lots and lots of family and friends in
WI/MN. Got back Saturday evening around sixish or so.

First of all, my hat's off to you Bill Lewis!! You're right on Target!!

Renee, I'm so glad you've joined us!! You're right in the right place here
my friend!! Welcome to the family!! I, myself have been diagnosed type two
since 1985. I won't go into a whole lot more detail here than that except
to say that my story has many similarities to others here. One thing I
would like to discuss, however is the horriffically misleading myth "PRE!!!"
So many in the medical profession want to make people "feel good" by using
yufamisms. So many folks want to treat the real McCoy like it's a
four-letter word!! For example, take the word blind. Guess what Honey?
Blind is a five-letter word to begin with. Nothing wrong with that! A lot
of us here are blind! And guess what? Most of us are quite happy by nature
and we even live fully productive lives and we even manage our own diabetes
and every other condition we might have along with our diabetes! Wow!!
Holy Buckets!! Like I say, my friend!! Welcome to the family!! Oh Boy!
Ya know I have half a mind to tell these pre folks that if they ever want to
be able to sing "pre-soprano," they'll have to put that "pre" right where
the sun don't shine!  Ever heard of being pre-pregnant; pre-male;
pre-female; pre-hispanic; pre-Caucasion; pre-white; or even pre-American?
This "pre" stuff has GOTTA GO!!!
If all these folks would simply teach everyone that just like blindness,
with the proper training, education, and control, even diabetes can be
reduced to a mere nuisance/inconvenience. The name of the game is about we
controling our diabetes and not letting it control us!! That's all.
Nothing more, nothing less! No. I never said I was perfect. But I, for
one, don't believe in hiding behind all these crazy yufamisms just to make
my self feel good, or worse yet, "DENIAL!!" If only these folks would
denounce "DENIAL" for what it is and just get over it!! Yah Renee. I know
that's easier said than done. Been there, done that! I'll bet I was mad as
all heck about my diagnosis for two years before somehow Ed Bryant's words
from back then kicked some sense into my stubborn Polish head!! Don't
worry. It's all part of the grieving process! It's really okay and we're
all here simply to love you and help you in any way we can!!We're just so
happy to have you Renee!!

Have a great day Gang!!

Bern
