That is kind of my ratio, but the short acting varies.  I take 40  units of 
Lantis and with coverage during the day I take around that much in  short 
acting.  Right now do to a tapering of steroids that I have been on  for the 
last 2 months due to asthma I was up to almost double the amount of  short 
acting as my long acting insulin.  I also take Janeuvia.  This  is what my 
endocrinologist has come up to work for me under her  supervision.  We are in 
contact either in the office or by phone calls  every other month.
 
I am and have always been a "brittle diabetic".  Some people say that  is 
not a term used, but I have been told that is what it is for over 51  years.
