[Diabetes-talk] Strange Question

I tend to echo Mike, Dar, and Cheryl altogether!

Back in August of 05, I had broken one of my feet. Except, at that time, my
doctor treated me for "Gout," not really sure if I had actually broken it or
what because of the other symptoms. He put me on a med which ended up
raising my sugars right through the sky! The next morning, I woke up at
236. I obviously wasn't happy about that, being so anal about numbers as I
am. I felt just awful. Two hours later I tested again and I was 573! I
called my husband--absolutely hysterical! My husband had the coronary for
me, however! He jumped into our mini-van, turned on the engine, the
flashers, and peeeeeeeeeled right out of that parking garage. Normally in
rush-hour traffic at five in the afternoon, it takes him about 20 minutes to
get home. He cut 'er down to about 11 minutes to get to me! Bear two
things in mind, of course. For one, this was about 10:30 in the morning.
And two, he probably did push 'er up to about 85 or so when he could get
away with it. We jumped in the van. He called the police on his cell
phone, turned on the flashers and the police followed us to the hospital.
His department at the Center teased him about his peeling out there for
about a week! Needless to say, I never took another one of those pills
again. It was at the hospital, I was x-rayed and that's where they found
the break But, I still say, stay real close onboard with your
endocrinologist, I'm assuming you have one. Just keep a real close eye on
your numbers and keep up the good work! My prayers are with you!! Chemo
itself is just so hard! I'm so sorry! Keep in touch with the family here!
Ya got a whole lot of folks here in your corner!!
