Bridgit,

I have taken this to submitting a resolution in NJ which had been approved
at our state convention in November 2009 and I have taken the lead to submit
and present this as a resolution at the 2010 NFB National Convention in
Dallas this year. I know of many persons in NJ who have had much problems
acquiring the Prodigy Voice due to not being included on the formulary list
of DME, Durable Medical Equipment. This is inclusive of persons with
Medicare, Medicaid and personal insurance. One NJ member even had to accept
the Prodigy Autocode as his personal insurance would not approve the Prodigy
Voice.

Hello,

I get my Prodigy Voice test strips from my local pharmacy. I also had no
problems getting my Prodigy meter when I lost my vision. My doctor and
nurse educator were really great and did everything necessary on their part.
Is this not always the case?

Here in Nebraska we have been trying to work on a resolution to present to
doctors and clinics about blind diabetics receiving proper and accessible
devices. Many sighted diabetics are given meters free of charge when first
diagnosed, but not blind patients. Over the years I received a lot of free
meters and supplies, but that was not an option when I lost my vision.
Anyway, has anyone else attemptedd something like this for their Affiliate?
Any thoughts?
