I was having same problem when my dr insisted on putting me on Lantus. My
sugar would jump all over the chart so I got him to put me back on NovaLog
and am balancedf again. 
I will have been diabetic for 46 years this coming August.
Good luck and keep working with your new dr. You'll hopefully find an answer.
