[Diabetes-talk] Accessible Insulin Pumps???

Priscilla,

At this moment there are no Insulin Pumps with speech. We are fortunate
though that the DDI Company with their line of Prodigy products is designing
to release their IQPump in the first quarter of 2011. There is also in
development a product called the PumpMate that will wirelessly communicate
with the Medtronic Minimed line of pumps and the blood glucose monitors that
interface with their pumps.
I have been an Insulin Pumper for over 11 years today. I am blessed to have
my wife who is whom fills my pump and makes any adjustments or record
readings for me. We do struggle still as she is legally blind and requires a
magnifier to see the screen.
As I have always promised the DAN, and personally promised Ed Bryant, I will
let everyone know ASAP when I learn of an accessible talking/audible insulin
pump. I personally, though having to submit my total control of filling my
pump and requiring my wife's help with working the pump, would not ever go
back to using injections with how my quality of life has improved.
This being my opinion and living with diabetes for 48 years...

Subject: [Diabetes-talk] Accessible Insulin Pumps???

I'm thinking about getting an insulin pump, and I was wondering if
there are any insulin pumps on the market with speach. If not, what
ppumps are easiest to navigate without sight?

Thanks,

Priscilla
