Julie,
Shrimp itself does not have carbs since it is a meat. Oil, too, does
not contain carbs, though it will have calories. I use extra virgin
olive oil for pretty much everything, but any oil-based product can be
used and will not have carbs.
Bread crumbs will be the ingredient containing carbs, but depending on
what and how much you use, it does not have to add a lot of carbs to the
shrimp. Something like potato chips or cornflakes will add that crunch
without a ton of carbs, but I usually make a flour mixture with
different seasonings when preparing a bread crumb-like mixture.
Check out cookbooks and online recipes to find other laternatives and
recipes. Your local market should be able to provide recipes and
cooking tips too.
I know BARD has a ton of cookbooks including ones with diabetic friendly
recipes.

diabetesfriendly
Hi guys,
For those of you who cook, I have a question. I had these sample shrimp
in the grocery store that were outstanding, but the way they prepared it
I'm sure would shoot my carbs off the charts if I made it the way they
did. One thing they used was basting oil. Is there something that's a
better or healthier alternitive? It wasn't greasy, but things always
come out better at the store than they do at home. The other thing it
had was breadcrumbs. What are some good substitutes for breadcrumbs as
I'm sure those probably weren't any good, and that's one of those things
I use frequently.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Julie
