I agree with you completely. And ain't it funny how release dates keep being
put back and put back and put back ...
I know there are always problems -- especially with software -- but I would
rather a manufacturer made conservative promises rather then being overly
optimistic.

Of course the technology has changed. My point was simply that talking to
the manufacturer got me the promise of it will be fixed in the next release.
Even today that doesn't tell us when a potential fix is coming. Sometimes
marketing battles it out with engineering and the long-awaited fix isn't in
the next release.
I'm simply saying that reputation isn't only built on promises. I watch for
results too.
