more and more doctors are putting diabetic on insulin, because it is more affective then the pills, I keep up to date with my Primary Care, and Endocrinologist and my Nephrologist who has taken care of my kidneys since I had to go on Dialysis.
They have told me they have more and more type 2 having to take insulin because either patients are not compliant meaning they don't follow doctors orders, they don't have the insurance to cover them, and they are under so much stress in every day things that it keeps their sugars high.
Also, my Kidney doctor, easier for me to write, told me on my last appointment, that he is seeing and increase of diabetics on dialysis, and more and more with type 2. Because the type 2s he is seeing also have high blood pressure and high cholesterol, mostly because he says that to many people listen to doctors that do not specialize in the disease like an endocrinologist, or they refuse to go to the doctor.
Or they tell their families, that I am boarder line, no such thing.
Trying to keep on top of my own disease, and ask question since I am part of DAN here in NY and National. That we all should be asking these questions, they all affect us.

My understanding has been that most type 2's can control things with
diet and/or oral medication. Most type 2's do not require insulin, but
you are not the first I have heard say this. I am no expert, but since
type 2's are still producing some level of natural insulin, and type 1's
do not produce insulin at all, this is of course why we are on insulin
from the start, maybe it is not as beneficial for type 2's to be on the
pump.
Not sure why type 2's using insulin are usually not elgible for the
pump. Some one should ask their doctor about this.

It is interesting to me, if the pump is this good, then why don't they
let type two diabetics have it as well, who are serious in keeping
numbers down.
I also would love to cut down on the shots each time before a meal. I'm
a very strong lady, where I will do my best to keep my numbers in a
good range.
If they go out of range in the two hundred area, then I know I can't
have this food that caused the number to rock as I call it.
The only way to learn and know is to try it and go from there. I know
you will do well, keep up the swell work.
