[Diabetes-talk] Prodigy Voice comments

Actually, they're not requiring you to "prove" that you have diabetes
although it may seem like it at times. What they're *really* worried about
is people selling strips the insurance companies partially payed for. I
think it's rather silly myself and so far Regence Blue Cross hasn't required
this. Knock on artificial wood!

Denise,

I understand. I also test 12 to 15 times a day, which my doctor fully
supports, and so far, I haven't had an issue with receiving test strips,
but these things are always in the back of my mind. I find it
interesting, and I'm sure I don't fully understand the process, that
type 1 diabetics are required to turn A1-C results over to insurance
companies "proving" that we are in deed diabetic as though type 1 can
come and go as it pleases. Ha-ha!

Sincerely,
Bridgit Kuenning-Pollpeter

It goes beyond just a talking meter. I test around 15 times a
day---health reasons to have to be so strict --prescribed by doctor and
A1C to show proof--finally---and my health insurance said twice was good
enough...months of fighting with them and they changed it to 4 times a
day was good enough coverage....months more and finally they agreed to 8
times a day---with tons of out of pocket expense to cover myself---not
withstanding the $800 a month fee I pay them to cover me. As you know,
test strips cost a fortune. They are telling us what we should be doing.
Isn't THAT ironic! Denise
