[Diabetes-talk] Spike.

Exercise is a problem if you don't take in adequate liquids before and
during exercise. I carry my water bottle with me and drink from it
frequently to insure that I remain well hydrated.

If you don't take in liquids and you are exposed to heat such as when
you encounter very hot weather, or when you exercise, the fluid you lose
through persperation, causes the fluid level in the blood stream to drop
and if nothing else, the ratio of sugar to fluid increases which in and
of itself can push sugar levels up, even to the extent of spiking.

Michael Park.
I am not an expert, because "ex" means "has been" and "spert" is "a drip under pressure".
