[Diabetes-talk] Introduction

Morning All
Not sure where all of you live but there is a program here in Illinois
that is sponsored by the ADA and a grant where the Department of Health
is doing a diabetic training.  I just completed a 6 week class and found
it very beneficial even though I had been a diabetic for 27 years and
now have had a kidney/ pancreas transplant.  As a result of the class I
have started a Diabetic Support Group.  The people in the class said
they wished they had a way to keep the class going.  So we all decided
to meet once a month to discuss how their self management was going and
keep them focused on a healthy lifestyle with diabetes.  Knowledge is
power and I only wish I had realized that sooner.  Unfortunately I have
had many complications due to self inflicted noncompliance.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the book!  It looks like it will give me the overview I need.
I
particularly like the article that gives me an idea of how to get blood
onto
a strip.  I have an appointment at a diabetes center Wednesday so
hopefully
I'll learn more there.
