Be very careful about posting this out there and getting replies, there are a lot of laws protecting both the recipient and the donor.
I had a kidney transplant in 2005, I had a non-related living donor. You can ask friends and family members, but be careful when posting to lists etc.
The transplant teams and UNOS are very particular about this stuff.
>From an experienced recipient and having a good friend that donated to me. I was on dialysis for almost 4 years waiting.

>
> This is from a diabetic friend of mine that had a pancreas transplant. At the time, I thought she was so lucky, as they would not accept me for several reasons. One reason was that I already had some kidney damage and the immune suppressants can do damage to the kidneys.
> This is what happened to my friend Pam. She does still have her vision, but now she will be fighting for her life unless she can have a kidney.
> I had islet cell transplant several years after her and the suppressants are not as toxic to the kidneys. If you know of anyone to whom you can pass this on, please do!

> Hi,
>
> You probably know me from my association with dogs; either PBGVS or Berger Picards or just dog training in general. I am a 60 year old living in California on dialysis, thanks to ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease - kidney failure). I need a match for a donation and would be willing to pay medical bills for a donor. (I think it is illegal to pay more.) At any rate, I would appreciate it if you could help me spread the word. Perhaps someone you know is looking for a way to change their lives forever and kidney donation would be an easy way to do that and help someone else at the same time. I am getting desperate.
>
> I am on a donor list for a cadaver kidney which could take up to 7 years. A live donor is so much better because the kidneys are healthier, as a rule, and the donors do not need 2 to survive. I want to thank my dear friend of over 30 years, John Cronin, who created this video as well as his sister and nephew who did the singing and musical accompaniment. It is truly a precious and thoughtful gift.
