[Diabetes-talk] Pump question

Linda, the same thing does still happen with certain cars. As far as the
screen reader in meters and pumps is concerned, the main issue is one of
programming. Most of today's devices are designed to send out data, not to
receive it back. Plus the speaker is only designed to handle the little tiny
beep that most people can't even hear anyway. And putting in a bigger
speaker goes against the trend of trying to create smaller and smaller
devices. Now, a third party or remote box, that would be a different matter.
But perhaps as the other components get smaller, there might be hope for a
speaker, at least in a special version of a remote or something. And now we
have to work against the touch-screen fad. I know a lot of people who don't
want touch screen for pump functions. Now when they put in something like
Siri, game on! <grin.>

Subject: Re: [Diabetes-talk] Pump question
I belong to a mystery readers and writers list, so it wouldn't be hard
for any of you to guess what I'm thinking.
You know, that's really scary though whether the device is an insulin
pump, or maybe a pacemaker.
I would really hope that these devices are made so that one remote
control wouldn't interfere with another but it makes me think of a
time, back in the early eighties, when they were just starting to
promote and develop remote access for tv's. My grandfather was in a
care facility, and his remote kept changing his roommate's tv.
Linda.
