I cannot vouch for the information below. However, here it is for what it's
worth.

Hi, all,
When I heard of the Medicare Competitive Bidding process, I started to call
the mail order companies on Medicare's list on their site.
It seems each day, the information changes.
But as of now, here are some mail order sources by test strip brand name
with phone numbers.
I believe that Walgreensand CVS will carry most test strips if one goes to
the local pharmacy store.
However, the person must get the exact name of the test strip on the
prescription.
I have called all the companies on the Competitive Bidding list. The
medicare site is inaccurate in my opinion as it lists companies as
carrying test strips of a given brand and when you call, they say they do
not.
These mail order companies told me they carry test strips as of July 1.
One can call any time. One company carries 2 brands actually so ask them
before July 1.
Prodigy strips are carried by Binson
586 755 2300
Solo and Solus strips are carried by
Diabetic Care Club
1 800 643 0011
One Touch Ultra is carried by
Jade whose number is
Jade
855 411 5233.
Per the Optium and the Precision Extra test strips,
One may have to contact a local Walgreens or a CVS store directly.. Again
the prescription must be the exact test strip name; otherwise
one can get a substitute brand. Thus far and as of many calls, I have
been told by a Regional Manager at Walgreens that Medicare will
reimburse the local pharmacy nowand after July 1.
This Competitive Bidding process will be applied in future to other
medical devices--not to medicines.
If the above seemsa bit vague, medicare has not made things easy at all;
it has taken days to call the mail order companies and Medicare and
Pharmacies.
If for some reason, you encounter difficulties, please contact your local
Congressman's and Senator's office andask for the Medicare Case Manager
who is the best person to resolve and forward complaints up the food chain.
