You want to be careful about bringing food to conventions though, as 
you could be biting the hand that houses you. Not many people know that 
hotels give convention rates, hoping to make up the difference on the 
food they will sell. If people start going out to other places, and 
bringing in food, than convention costs will soar.
many restaurants, especially those in hotels, do make an attempt to 
offer healthy food choices, making it up to the customer to use a 
little self restraing.
