preview of what our future might look like. To cut to the chase, you wear a
camera and point to a place, and this thing looks for text and reads it to

OK, this kind of thing jumps up every so often, but this is impressive. It's
still early, but this could be what the future looks like. 

 

For those interested in how this might work, I Googled  share boost
algorithm and found the paper that describes the classification algorithm
these folks are using. I attached the PDF, but it also is available on
arxiv.org http://arxiv.org/abs/1109.0820

And you might be able to get LaTeX source if that would be of interest.

OrCam consists of a small camera attached to your glasses and connected to a
pocket-size computer. The system identifies objects, recognizes and reads
text, and speaks it to you through a bone-conduction earpiece. Hosts Peter
and Nancy Torpey will speak with Chana, one of the developers of the device,
and Eliav, from the marketing team about the device.
