I can't answer your question definitively but I'd bet others on this list
can. It seems to me, though, that one just mixes two ingredients, each of
which has its own packaging -- no measuring needed.

I think I'd call your local fire department and tell it that you wish to
just try to prepare a glucagon injection under the direction of the
paramedics to see for yourself if it's possible. All the department can do
is to say yea or nay but you might not have the hang-ups that you'd
encounter with your local endo. If you found you got the hang of it, you
could just ask to demonstrate to your endo or hospital personnel and if they
refused, you could work with your local NFB chapter to bring this to the
attention of your local press.

You might also call the Joslin Institute in Boston to see what its people
say.

Now I'll defer to others on this list. I know I'd just buy a dose or two of
the stuff (I don't remember whether a prescription is needed) and do a
little self-instruction/practice (short of giving the injection, of course).

educator Ann that did her insulin pen study at one of our conventions a few
years ago? You might also try writing to Lynn Bailliff I think her email

Hi, all.

 

 

My husband Jeremy's endo wanted my family since they live in the area to be

able to learn to administer glucagon in the event he went low. However, they

refused. As someone who is totally blind, with no light perception, is it

possible for me to administer it to him? I know the type she wanted him to

use you had to mix it, and that could be difficult for someone who has no

vision whatsoever. Usually, if he drops and I can't get anything into him, I

wind up calling the paramedics which in this town wind up being the fire

department, unless they deem it necessary to transport him to the hospital

in which case they send an ambulance.
