Alternate testing sites means other parts of your body to test on. Some can
use a palm or thigh or upper arm. You can do this with any meter, but it can
be tedious for nonvisual users. I've been diabetic for 30 years, and test 6
to 8 times a day, and my fingers are doing fine. However, since becoming
blind 12 years ago, I stopped testing with my Braille finger.

There are identifying features on the strips to know which is up and down
and back and front. I use a prodigy Voice (Which, FYI, is 100% accessible).
The strips have a cut-out on the top bottom, which is the end you slide into
the meter. There's a small canule one can feel that sucks the blood up. Not
sure what the solus strips are like, but likely, there's identifying
features.

Mike on the list mentioned this, and since I started this method, it's
worked very well. When I poke my finger, then squeeze, I ten rub my finger
in circles on the tip of the strip, and it usually takes quickly. You can
also try sliding the pricked finger across the top.

Thanks mike and other's. I'm surprised they've not come out with a newer
Solus meeter to speak all 500 memories, oh well. At least it speaks enough
for 10 readings.
I will take a look at the manual provided to see what I can get out of it.
According to my nurse, the only trouble he could see my having, is getting
the blood right on the strip. If I understand right, the Solus V2 does tell
you if you have blood on the strip, no?
A friend says it does, but I just wanted to be sure.
Also, alternative testing sites? What does that mean? I was told you can
test using alternate testing sites with the Solus V2, so confused as to what
that means.
The other issue is how can you tell what end to put the blood, and which end
goes into the meter?
I appreciate everyone's help with this.
P.S.: biosense, according to their website says they have data manager
software for the Solus V2. Has anyone tried this? If so, how good and/or
accessible is it?
I ask because I use a Mac full time, running OS X 10.11.
