Daniel,

I use the Solus V2 and like it a lot. It does not specifically say that there is blood on the strip, but once it gets a sample sucked up into the strip it will say some wording to the extent that the test is in process. The strips do have a different feel at each end and you’ll know which is the one that is inserted into the meter. Besides, if you accidently put the wrong end of the strip in the slot it will simply not turn on. Once the correct end gets inserted it will tell you to apply the blood to the strip.

As for a new model, I’m not sure Bio Sense is going in that direction. The last time I had reason to call them, a number of months back, I found out that the company was/is working on a “mobile” testing system. From what I understand, however, this is *not* covered by medicare so I kind of doubt they will build in a voice feature.

As for the software that your “supposed” to be able to use on your computer, in my opinion, S.T.I.N.K.S.! In fact I’ll never attempt installing it on another computer since the one time I had tried it I had nothing but problems on my computer. Like Mike mentioned, keep a log. I just keep a MS Word file with a line for each date then all the times & results and dosages of insulin I took at that reading. I can easily print it out for my doctor when he needs to see numbers.

Good luck.

Eileen

Thanks mike and other's. I'm surprised they've not come out with a newer Solus meter to speak all 500 memories, oh well. At least it speaks enough for 10 readings.
I will take a look at the manual provided to see what I can get out of it.
According to my nurse, the only trouble he could see my having, is getting the blood right on the strip. If I understand right, the Solus V2 does tell you if you have blood on the strip, no?
A friend says it does, but I just wanted to be sure.
Also, alternative testing sites? What does that mean? I was told you can test using alternate testing sites with the Solus V2, so confused as to what that means.
The other issue is how can you tell what end to put the blood, and which end goes into the meter?
I appreciate everyone's help with this.
P.S.: biosense, according to their website says they have data manager software for the Solus V2. Has anyone tried this? If so, how good and/or accessible is it?
I ask because I use a Mac full time, running OS X 10.11.
