[Diabetes-talk] re what exercises are the best for diabetics

If you’re not use to doing much exercise then you can always start at home. You can as silly as it may sound, set a timer for 5 minutes and continue to walk all around your home. Do this three times a day or build up to it and before you know it you’ve put in a 15 minute walk over the course of a day. then start to set the timer for 10 minutes and soon you’ll be doing a 20-30 minute walk if you do it 2 to 3 times per day.

And of course there is also the old-fashioned type calisthenics. You can walk in place, lift your legs & arms, bend at the waist so on and so on. The key word is “activity” and getting your body moving. If you sit at the computer a lot, make it a point to get up every hour and move.

Good luck.

The easiest exercise for most people to do is walking. I walk in the mall in
very hot or very cold weather, and outdoors when the weather permits.
Activity is more important than "exercise"--anything that gets you out of
your chair and gets your blood flowing is helpful, whether it's aerobic or
not. Housework counts if it's strenuous--doing flights of stairs, using the
vacuum cleaner or a hand mop, things like that. If you're ready for
"exercise," pick something you like and do it regularly! Lifting light
weights or doing exercises that use your own weight to build strength helps
lots with balance.
