Oh Joyce, I realize I'm preaching to the choir and sounding like a broken
record but wow! It just shouldn't be this hard to get something that is
really considered the standard of care these days. If I ran things, ummm,
yeah! <grin>

I had gotten the 630 Metronic pump in November and it was totally unusable
for the blind. They did not make it possible to use with an IPhone. This
was the pump that if you got it before the first of the year 2017, that it
would put you on the list for when the 670 Medtronic pump would be released
this year and there would be no charge to upgrade.

After I found all of that out, I returned the 630 Medtronic pump and got the
530 G pump which is suppose to work with the IPhone. It really does not do
much with the IPhone as I fought to get Medicare to pay for the CGM put out
by Meditronic and after going thru all the denials with the insurance
company- 3of those, I got with the lawyer and it took 5 months to get the
written denial from the judge. I only had 10 days to put in the paperwork
for an appeal. I decided since CMS was in favor to approve coverage only
for the Dexcom I would go for that CGM. I am still waiting. I have been
chasing after the pump and CGM for more than a year now.

Veronica,

You can likely answer this. So I discussed getting Dexcom with my endo, but
he wants me to wait because the mini med will soon come out with its
pump/CGM combo, and he feels this would be the better option. Were I
sighted, I may do this, however... I didn't get into it with him just yet
because this can be confusing for some (sigh) but what is the likelihood
that this device will be accessible enough for blind users, do you know?
Thanks.

Bridgit

Daniel, your insurance company is full of it. I use my iPhone exclusively
for my readings. The latest app update even says that the app has now been
cleared by the FDA for making dosing decisions. Forget their inaccessible
receiver and just plan to use the app on your phone and you'll be fine. And
you can tell 'em I said so. <laughing!> Veronica

Good day list:
After much fighting, I appear as if I will be getting my new Dexcom system
after all.
Last time I wrote, I asked about the sensors, etc. However, I am writing to
ask about the receiver for the decks calm G5 this time.
>From what I'm told from Dexcom, you cannot use your smart device for your
readings, due to insurance restrictions. So how would I be able to use my
iPhone, plus the receiver? In other words, if I have to use my iPhone, would
the results eventually be sent to the receiver, when it too, is in range?
