Veronica.i always confirm my readings with the meter. The dexcom is just
confirmation if the numbers on both are with in a 5 to 10 unit difference
totally get it.but if they are off by a big differene, then I always go
for the meter over the edexcom.as the dexcom is doing things in real time an
there can always be inaccuracies.

Gary, at this point I know nothing about this but I'm betting attorneys got
involved here. Perhaps they were worried that people would just use the A1C
from the app and not actually go to the doctor to get it done. I've always
thought it was a bit crazy that all of the blood glucose meters showed
averages because they were only taking them from the numbers the meter saw
and who knows what might have happened in between tests. I do know you can
look up how those averages supposedly relate to possible A1C levels but
again, as I said, not really a great coralation there in my opinion. I never
got the Clarity app so never even knew that the estimated A1C was on there.
But now that they are cleared to be used for insulin decisions, they're
possibly covering themselves if anything goes wrong down the road.
Personally I still worry about accuracy because it sure goes bonkers after a
shower or swimming. For instance, this morning after my shower, the Dexcom
said 123 and my meter said 200. Guess who I believed? Oh that first night
after an epidural is fun! I didn't want to get too drastic in case the
prednisone hadn't kicked in yet but heh heh heh heh heh, I am now. <grin>
