[Diabetes-Talk] Possibly OT: U.S. Access Board to Hold Public Briefing on Final Rules

It just seems odd to me that there's just such an incredible separation
between diagnostic equipment and equipment designed to treat a condition.
The first is absolutely pointless if we can't respond to it, right? I think
somehow if we could ultimately make a connection between the access board
and the FDA, it might go a long way towards getting access to a decent
quality of life for us. In some ways, the more we bat things around and bang
our heads against those brick walls, eventually something might break
through. I will never give up though. I have far too much respect for all of
us here and am driven fiercely by the notion that we all deserve the best,
just like everyone else. And I love your company along the way. <grin> You
never know who just might set some big truck into motion.

Thanks Veronica. I should have known you would be on top of this. So,
they're worried about how to make an MRI accessible to me and not an insulin
pump? That's a (bleepin') scandal. I know you personally have pushed this as
hard as you possibly could. I can't help but feel that if the story of
independent blind people struggling with ridiculously inaccessible
technology ever hit the main stream media, things would change. I wish I
knew how to help.

I read through all of these documents a couple of months ago and it does not
address the medical gear we use at home. It's talking about how to allow
everyone access to an MRI, x-ray tables and such. It's diagnostic, not
treatment.

Note the ruling on medical diagnostic equipment. At least, this is an
opportunity to see how the system works, and maybe even get a word in about
our need for accessible personal use medical devices. There are phone
