[Diabetes-Talk] Animas news

Oh lucky me, my endo is on maternity leave and I am not in touch with any
educator. I am going to investigate the rumor I heard that the Tandem pump
was eventually going to work with an iPhone. The Animas letter referenced a
transition period but didn't define it. If the warranty expires before
September of 2019, they'll honor it, but if after that date, the letter
implies that they won't. I am going to call Animas to find out how long I
have to investigate this.
I did already get an email from the Omnipod rep I met with last March. I
wrote her asking about anything new coming out. I'm going to give Tandem a
call next week.
And it's ridiculous to say that if we migrate now to Medtronic, we can do it
for free. If your pump company goes away, we shouldn't have to pay to switch
no matter which one we choose. Of course, not like we have a lot of options
right now. I'm not surprised though, especially given the problems I've had
with my pump. But it's a shame that old technology worked better and none of
the new stuff does. Man oh man!
Oh well, at least I am finally out of the splint and can do my own cartridge
and other diabetes-related tasks. I can celebrate that! <grin>

Subject: [Diabetes-Talk] Animas news

I just heard back from my diabetic educator, since I also sent her the news
about Animas. She said that my pump that is not even a year old has a four
year warranty that she hopes Animas will honor. She told me that Tandem and
Omnipod have exciting new advancements in their pumps that will be released
within the year, so Medtronic should not be our only option in a pump once
our warranties expire on the Animas. I sure hope one or both of these
companies are paying attention to the need to make their pumps accessible to
the blind.
