Eileen,

     I looked at the Tandem  pump, and it is not accessible at all.  Using the Dexcom mobile app will allow you to work the Dexcom, but not the pump.  You would still need to be able to do all the stuff that needs to be done with a pump--load cartridge, give bolus, etc.  None of that is able to be done on the Tandem.  It is just a large touch screen with no other buttons.  I thought about putting braille on the screen, but when you touch one thing on the screen, it changes the screen.  

Glad that they are allowing sighted diabetics to enjoy the use of the mobile app though.

I’m forwarding the below announcement email that I received from Tandem regarding their pump that will now integrate with the Dexcom. I’m not sure if this means that the Tandem would now be accessible if it can be used with the  Dexcom app or not. I had called them a while back and they told me there insulin pump wasn’t accessible, but I can’t help but wonder if this might be a game changer.
