Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone here has to balance different diets? I have a
rare genetic disease called Alstrom syndrome. The name of the game is
organ deterrioration and failure, when and what is anyone's best
guess. I started out with high triglycerides, lipids in my early
teens. I've always been overweight, another syndrome issue, is
hyperphagia, meaning your body doesn't recognize staying full for very
long. At the age of 18 I had pancreatitis, and in enters my Diabetes.
In my mid 30's is when my kidneys started deterriorating, currently
I'm pretty stable at stage 3 kidney disease. My struggle is that the
Diabetes diet of watching carbs is completely opposite from the kidney
diet where carbs are one of the safer things to eat. I can have up to
2000 MGs of sodium and potassium a day. It can be real fun figuring
out what to eat, I really have to know my food makeup. Just wondering
if anyone else has to do this tricky kind of balancing act? It's taken
me some time to figure out how to make it work for me. And hopefully
if I get approved for my CGM, that doesn't make me go back to the
drawing board with food. Although I hope not, because my sugars are
pretty good testing with my meter. Thanks everyone.
Doula
