[Diabetes-Talk] 2019 NFB Legislative Priority

Right or wrong, then we need to flood the national office and make this clear. And I mean flood it. We and other members and even our family and friends need to contact Riccobono and national and state how important it is to have a separate bill for medical tech, and make sure people with actual medical conditions be a part of the entire process. Five of us, 10 of us is not enough. I'm guilty of this a lot of the time too, but ranting is good and necessary at times, but at some point, we need to actually do something. How many here are contacting the NFB national office? How many are contacting state and federal reps? We need a concentrated effort on all fronts. And let's keep in mind; it's not just one person (s) or group (s) fault. There are a lot of variables that go into crafting legislation like this. So, I say we send our angry emails to President Riccobono and national and keep doing it until they get the point.

BTW, I was a part of another outside group that assisted in the NFB finally agreeing to the code of conduct that has recently happened, but it took a lot of concentrated effort on our outside group and a lot of communication with national to make it happen. Several people, Federationist and non-Federationist were a part of the group, and we finally made a loud enough noise. It's not changed everything or gone as far as we like, but it's a start. Perhaps those of us here and other blind people with medical conditions need to band together and force some hands too.

Bridgit

I agree Veronica. I was aghast when I read how much time… I counted at least seven years, we will have to wait for anything to happen. I also agree the medical devices are going to get lost in the shuffle. I think there needs to be a higher priority on medical devices and it needs to be a separate bill.
