[Diabetes-Talk] Accu Chek Guide.

Yes, I'm not aware of any division or group in the NFB testing medical devices for accessibility. At the Jernigan Institute, they focus on tech primarily for school and employment, so screenreaders, voice-over, smart devices, laptops, etc. And they are not developing their own tech, just looking at what is out there, manufactured by other companies and sometimes, they will approach a company, like Apple, and discuss accessibility and what can be done. And as stated here, you can make an appointment to play with tech and devices, but it's usually smart devices and screenreaders, etc. But I don't believe they do anything with medical equipment.

Well they clearly don't spend time on medical technology in this division. There is no question but that the trial and testing of medical technology is currently up to us as individuals. It's the only way we're going to have choices, in my opinion. As for me, right now, I'm just so happy with how infrequently I have to do finger sticks, at least as long as I can afford the Dexcom. <grin> Veronica

It's in the Baltimore Headquarters. I'm surprised you never heard of it. The lab has everything that is or was on the market for computer accessibility and does testing on that equipment and software as well as demonstrations for people by appointment only.
In order to do that testing and those demonstrations, the staff have to be really effective understanding accessibility.
