[Diabetes-Talk] Medicare Attorneys?

We felt so bad for his family. He was in a trauma center's rehab for months, had to move to another state to another facility and then moved to yet another state to a wonderful group home type living facility. In this last setting, he was doing great and loved it there. This accident took place three states from where we live, and the rehab facility close to home would not accept him as a patient for some reason. When he had to leave this last facility, his son graciously took him in to live with him with 24-7 care. Not everyone can do that though. My colleague is mobile, but he just doesn't have the mental capacity to live alone again. It is sad.

I hope your friend finds a solution that is best for both of them. How old is she? There are what is called an ombudsman for the elderly. I'm not exactly sure what all they can do though, but they are supposed to help with issues like this.

Hi Jamie,

Exactly. This is also a traumatic brain injury brought on from surgery to remove a life-threatening tumor. Its been horrible what their family has gone through.

Eileen,

I don't know an attorney, but I understand your friend's issues. My former colleague was involved in a horrible car accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury. His family had to move him three times for just the same reasons as your friend is having to do. His final move was to live with his son with 24-7 care. It is sad what insurance regulations dictate.

Hi All,

I’d like to know how someone goes about finding an attorney that offers representation when a person is having problems with Medicare coverage in New York State. I’m asking for a friend who needs a lot of rehab therapy after a serious surgery and keeps getting bounced out of one rehab facility after the other when a 21 day time period has been met. Its very difficult & stressful for the person’s spouse to deal with especially when they keep being told they might have to take their spouse home who is not well enough to be sent home.

Thanks for any thoughts on the subject of finding legal representation.

Eileen
