[Diabetes-Talk] Need pump advice

Hi Sharon! Yes, the 530G is the only sort of accessible insulin pump right now. Medtronic was nice enough to let those of us who are blind have access to the discontinued model, since we do not have any other choice. However, once the four year warranty has expired, we are back to square one. We are all hoping that pump suppliers will recognize the importance of making the insulin pumps accessible to those of us who are blind.
Veronica, who is on this mailing list has been able to use the Omni pod, and I am sure she will chime in here with her experiences with it. It is quite a bit more challenging to learn how to use, especially if you are already used to using the paradigm. The Tandem is totally in accessible to us, so don’t even consider that one. Personally, I don’t mind the 530 G, because it is very small and has tangible buttons. All of the newer Medtronic palms are what I would consider to be quite large. Good luck with your decision!
