Hi Bridgit,

Again, it's not likely the press will cover a story without a group/org going to it. This is why press releases and PSAs and story pitches are created and distributed among the media; in hopes someone will want to cover a story. The bigger the news, the bigger the story, the bigger the group/org, the better chance you have to get your story told. But the press does not generally come to you unless you have a big enough platform/story, and this group and the NFB do not. This is why creating well-written and compelling press releases is important. And yes, in this day and age, if you can create a twit or post that goes viral, it can help, but it's very difficult to get something to go viral. But having a social media presence is important these days. Just the way of the world.

I think it would be great to get some kind of press coverage by trying to get the medical or consumer reporters of major national newspapers to write articles on the INXS ability of insulin pumps. I think this kind of coverage would really make the pump companies take notice and then perhaps be open to ideas. I do not participate in Facebook Or most other types of social media but if we could get some kind of a posting to go viral it might be helpful also.

There is a possibility that that, in itself, might actually be just what the doctor ordered to give some the bad press they deserve. Others, it might give just the right people the kick in the proverbial posterior to do the right thing??? Like get Congress in gear to actually mandate medical equipment accessibility??? This may be far-fetched. But, Lord knows you could have some thing here.
