Hi everyone.
In response to the questions here, for what it's worth, I thought I'd share
the notes I wrote for myself. I shared my early versions with some of you,
but I've since modified my instructions on finding the transmitter serial
number on the newer boxes.
Maybe I shouldn't put this in writing and jinx myself, <grin>, but the last
two times, I have actually managed to find the transmitter serial number
without assistance. Ah, it's the little things. <grin>
Anyway, here are my notes.

Finding the four-digit code on the new sensor. (If package is resting on its
paper backing, place obvious opening corner closest to you, bottom right.
The code shows through the right side of the package, top right corner.) I
actually place my iPhone on its side so that it rests on the power button,
which places the camera close to the table, but in the upper right corner of
the package. Sometimes if you start by placing the phone right up against
the sensor package, then pulling it away, you'll hear the code announced. If
you have already taken the sensor out of the package, if you feel the bottom
of it, you will feel to pieces of paper backing. You peel these off so you
can stick the sensor to your abdomen. You will notice that one tab sticks up
and kind of says, peel me first. The sensor code is actually written on the
other piece of paper backing. So you could try getting the camera to read
that piece of backing. I do have more trouble getting the code this way
though.

Finding the transmitter serial number: (SN: Has six digits, usually 4
numbers and 2 letters, in any order. How to find serial number: Place box
containing transmitter on a table, so that the folds where the box was put
together are on the table. Look at the two long ends. One has a pull tab and
the other has a label pasted on it. The serial number is on this label. If
you place the label closest to you, with the pull tab that you pull to open
the box pointing to the right, (as if you would pull going from right to
left, the serial number is located in the upper right corner of the pasted
on label. It can be hard to find and this label is full of other bar codes
and numbers so don't be discouraged if you end up trying several times to
find it or having to ask someone else to read you this number.)

Hope this helps. Feel free to give me a shout if something doesn't make
sense.
Veronica
