[Diabetes-Talk] Accurate, accessible glucose meters?

Hello,

I needed surgery for a subdural hematoma and I was getting large doses of
steroids to treat inflammation of the brain. The steroids caused my blood
glucose levels to approach 300 for several days. my A1C hovered around 7 for
months afterward. I heard about the Freestyle Libre sensors from this list
and I asked my doctor to give me a prescription. I'm not a diabetic so I had
to pay for them myself. Humana's mail order pharmacy had them for $55. I
have used 5 sensors and the peace of mind they gave me was devinitely worth
the money. The sensors were easy to apply and the iPhone app was also very
accessible. the ability to share readings with medical professionals was
also a plus. I'm speaking about them in the past tense because my glucose
levels have been in the normal range for a couple of months. I consider the
money well spent.

Good luck in the future.

Regards,

Dan

The nice thing about science is that it's true whether you believe in it or
not.
