Yes, completely agree with Milton. You definitely should contact a diabetes nurse educator to go over all this. They can also help with initial installation, and helping you get comfortable to insert the sensor and transmitter. Chad, I don't know if you have any usable vision or not, but the receiver that the Dexcom system comes with is completely in accessible for non-visual use. However, the Dexcom app is almost 100% accessible.
Scanning the QR code is hit or miss for me. Usually, it works for me, and then every couple of changes, I suddenly cannot get it to scan. Sometimes, if my husband is around, I will ask him to help me line up the code inside the box on the app. My husband has some usable vision, and can usually help with this. I have used AIRA before to get the code from both the sensor and transmitter. More often than not, I will ask my oldest son. I've had more difficulty getting the transmitter code to scan then the sensor codes. Fortunately, you only need to change the transmitter every three months. It is just the sensors that you change every 10 days.

The diabetes Educator should be familiar with the Dexcom G6 app that is very accessible on the iPhone and that person should be able to explain everything you need to know.

So, to accomplish this I have used the Aira service and I have heard others use Seeing AI from Microsoft and others have used Be My Eyes. This is your choice and you will have to decide what is easiest for you.

I know injecting probably isn’t the right word but curious how this whole thing works. I understand how it sends the information to my iPhone but just want to know how to get everything set up being blind. If anyone can help that’s great. Thanks. Chad
