[Diabetes-Talk] Choosing a decent bread

Terry,

Just look for a bread that is labeled whole grain or nine grain or ancient
grains. Sarah Lee has a version of this. But no bread is low carb.
Regardless of the bread, whole grain, white, gluten-free, a single slice is
about 15 grams of carbs. So, a sandwhich with 2 slices will be 30 grams of
carbs. Obviously bigger bread like Texas toast or French loaf will have
more. Likewise, tortilla wraps are the same. Even those claiming to be
low-carb are deceptive. Bread is bread, and if you are going to eat it,
there's no way getting around the carbs.

Subject: [Diabetes-Talk] Choosing a decent bread

Hello everyone,

So one of the things that was mentioned in my appointment was, eating more
whole grains. Sometimes we eat sandwiches for lunch. I don't think the bread
I currently use is good enough. It's, Sarah Lee, honey wheat.

I would like to find a bread that I will likely find at Wal-Mart, as this is
where we do the majority of our shopping. I am wanting something that's not
too many carbs. But I don't know if this is even possible?

But also, something that's high in fiber.

Is there such a bread like this?

A friend of mind mentioned one called, Healthy Life. Do any of you know
anything about this bread?

Thank you,

Terri
