Hello Dave. Thankyou and congratulations for the great job you do as owner
of the list serv!
Many folks have reached out and answered your question, so I doubt that I
will offer anything different than they already have .
But here goes anyway. Because you are not insulin dependent insurance most
likely will not cover a cgm, even though they are absolutely the best thing
going. Gary is a type two as well, taking metformin once aday and
monitoring food intake as well as blood sugar readings. We pay out of
pocket, Wal mart with coupon being the cheapest in Missouri that we have
found.
We feel that by checking his numbers and comparing them to what foods he has
eaten, as well as how much exercise he has done is the best way to monitor
his type 2 diabetes.
I believe that the prodigy is the best glucometer for the totally blind
user.
Good luck, and hope you can get your a1c done to pre- pandemic .
Debbie

Subject: [Diabetes-Talk] Which Meter??
Hi:
Most of you will recognize my name. I am the List Owner. I handle all
technical stuff, deal with troublemakers, keep people on topic etc.
Consequently I have been on the list since day one, and read most messages.
Like most people, I don't pay as much attention as I should.
Also, as some of you know, I am a type 2 diabetic. I controlled my A1C
pretty well until the Pandemic. My Doctor wants me to take my blood sugar at
least once a day so we can get a better handle on what foods are causing me
problems.
What meter or meters are accessible. The Prodigy XXX or something else? Is
there anything that will communicate with my iPhone?
Thanks!
David Andrews
