Hi Veronica! I'm glad the IOS app is finally available for Omnipod 5. I also enjoyed being tubeless, but I was having trouble getting my post meal blood sugars to stay under 180. They were climbing to over 250 on a continual basis, so I went to see my educator to see what changes I could make. That is when she showed me the Mobi and said the Tandem algorithm would do a better job keeping those levels close to my target blood sugar of 110. And, she was right.

One really positive difference between the Omnipod and Mobi is how my insurance covers it. The pods were costing me almost $250 a month once I hit the darn coverage gap with Medicare. Because the pods, my insulin and several other meds I am taking all cost quite a bit, I hit the coverage gap by April every year. And, because the pods are a pharmacy item, they cost me $100/month prior to reaching the coverage gap when the price went to $250. The Tandem supplies are all durable goods, so my co-pay is next to nothing. So, financially, the Tandem has been a blessing for my budget!

One other thing that I really like with the Mobi is how much quieter the alarms are. Only the pump makes noise, and it is much more discreet than the loudly beeping Omnipod. Both the pod and phone would alarm me, which was frustrating during important meetings. I understand that they can be silenced, but certain ones don't silence and are very loud and get louder until you dismiss them on your phone. The Mobi's low alerts are continual until I dismiss them on my phone, but they are not as loud, don't get louder and louder and are not very noticeable by others in a meeting like the Omnipod.

Although I am back to a pump with tubing, the Mobi has a five inch infusion set as one option. They have a sleeve that you can put on your abdomen that holds the pump, so it is almost like having the Omnipod on you. The pump is so tiny that it is hardly seen even if I use the holder with the clip to wear on my waistband.

I am also glad that both companies have listened to us and now offer us a choice for totally accessible pumps. I never used the IOS app for the Omnipod, but it sounds like they made a lot of great advances in it. Using the Android phone with mine was a definite struggle, although I was getting a lot better at it after almost two years.

Take care!

I am using the Omnipod 5 with the iOS app. I have been using it in = manual mode because it wasn't yet compatible with the Dexcom G7, = although they're promising that in a couple of weeks. When I switched to = the Omnipod in 2018, I didn't really think having a tubeless pump would = be a big deal, as I'd worn pumps with tubing since 1991. But now that = it's been 7 years, I have really come to lik not having the tubing. The = iOS app is also really accessible. Just like with the Mobi, there are a = few things that land in funny places on the screen, but it works well. = The other thing I like is that you don't have to use Face ID as many = times as you do with the Mobi. That is the one thing that is driving me = crazy with these pumps which are controlled by smart phone. Some days it = really makes me feel like diabetes runs my life because I wouldn't = normally use it. It seems like it just takes so long to get in, by the = time I try several times, then the phone jumps somewhere else when I'm = trying to enter the pass code, etc. With the Omnipod, you have to use = Face ID to get into the app, but not during any processes. I'm looking = forward to switching to automated mode in a couple of weeks. I think = it's fantastic that we actually have choices now.=20 Veronica

Thanks! It is a challenge getting it to be in just the right place.

BTW, I switched from the Omnipod to the Mobi a month ago and really like = =3D it. My educator showed it to me and asked me to consider it since she = =3D really likes its algorithm much better. Tandem has done an amazing job = =3D making it totally accessible for us. =3D20

FYI,
I received today from Byram Healthcare part of my order of Mobi insulin = =3D pump=3D3D supplies and found a surprise package included. It is a thin = =3D plastic device=3D3D that snaps on over the wireless charging pad and = has =3D an indentation which h=3D3D elps center the pump in the correct location = =3D for charging And helps keep it f=3D3D rom sliding. This device will be = =3D particularly helpful to people who are blin=3D3D d or have low vision. I = =3D am assuming because I did not know that it was avail=3D3D able nor did I = =3D place an order for it from Byram that I will not be charged f=3D3D or = it. =3D I have not seen any communications from Tandem that this accessory = is=3D3D =3D now available but apparently it is.
Patricia.
