[Dtb-talk] NFBnewsline and the Mac

The application is a Java application, and thus it is in theory easy
to directly port it. Macs include a Java runtime environment built in,
so the basic infrastructure is already there. Even though the app is
distributed as an .exe file, it may be possible to extract the .jar
program file from it. The only problem I see is that the app is
designed to look for drives by drive letter, while UNIX-based systems
(Mac, Linux, etc.) do not use drive letters but rather connect drives
into the filesystem at "mount points" (e.g. the contents of a CD might
appear at /Volumes/CD and you'd access that particular folder to view
the contents.)

I'm not sure exactly who writes the apps for the NFBNN, but I'd
imagine this would be a very easy change to implement? (Macs mount all
connected drives under /Volumes so it'd be simple to scan that folder
for media rather than scanning drive letters.)
