[Dtb-talk] camera scanners

Hello:

Freedom Scientific makes a scanner called the Pearl. Serotek uses the Hovercam. There are others. One problem with an overhead scanner is that they are more sensitive to ambient light and if the page is curved, the resulting distorted image may not scan as accurately.

Regards,

Robert

Subject: [Dtb-talk] camera scanners

Hi everybody,

I seem to remember awhile back hearing about a camera that does what a flatbed scanner does. I'd really like one of these gizmos because it seems like it'd be easier and less time-consuming to scan a book. It'd especially come in handy with books that are 600 pages or more whether hardback or paperback. Does anyone out there have such a camera? Does Humanware, etc. make something like this?

Thanks.

Mike
