It depends on the format of the book.  Kindle books from Amazon wouldn't work.  If you have the original Stream, and the softpack, it will read ePub books I believe.

I was wondering if anyone has ever purchased an ebook and read it on their Stream. I notice that Bookshare puts ebooks up there in daisy format. I've often wondered if ebooks could be purchased on a site like amazon and placed onto the Stream and have it read back.
