I agree re comparisons as you'll see in another post.

However, my gripe with publications like Consumers Report is that you can
never buy the models they tested -- said models change too often -- so what
you're really getting is a tutorial on how to evaluate the equipment
yourself. (grin)

I've found that the NFB's A T blog carries very good reviews of products,
both high tech and what I call medium tech.  I know we have a listing of
products and comments on the web, too, but I haven't delved into it so can't
tell you how it's put together.  I believe those are good places to start.

Mike, I agree that no technology is "the best" for everybody.  However, this
request makes sense in the same way that Consumer Reports makes sense.
Rather than thinking of "the best," think of features and benefits.
Comparisons are quite useful.

Would you ask such questions of sighted users expecting definitive answers?
I suspect not. Blind users are no different from sighted users. What
software and hardware they prefer and their reasons for their preferences
will get about as many answers as there are persons responding to your
questions. 
For example, most blind people will probably say that the iPhone is the only
fully -accessible cellular phone available here. But you'll find enough
Apple haters who will tell you that Android phones plus TalkBack is the only
way to go. 
Long live diversity.
