Hello Greg and everyone,
Air Play has it's place but we shouldn't have to run our cell phone batteries down just to hear or view content on devices such as our smart tv through our Apple TV. The particular network in mind already has apps for Iphones, iPods, and Android devices. Since they're already supporting iDevice Apps with the advent of iOS 13 and the ability to run iOS Apps on all Apple Platforms such as the Mac and Apple TV creating a native app for Apple TV should be a no-brainer for them.
There is a service called audiobooks.com that works on just about every platform and device you can name. I'm not sure if anyone here is familliar with this service and how usable it is on the various platforms and devices. Here's hoping an Audible App for Apple TV will become available in the near future as well.
We may sound old fashion but we began fighting cell phone adiction before the termwas ever coined. When we get home or at night or are staying home for the day the cell phones go in the drawer until the next time we leave the house. For those with similar mindsets Having native apps for devices other than smartphones and tablets is a must.

This applies to iOS and MacOS only but I have to assume Windows and Android offer the same features.
When playing audio on such devices there is a system service called AirPlay that lets you send the audio out to other airplay devices such as HomePod speakers and AppleTV. You can then control the playback and volume with Siri.
There are also things called Bluetooth transmitters that you can plug into an NLS player and then get the players audio on any Bluetooth enabled headphones or speakers.

Currently one can only access their audio and video libraries via a smartphone, their online Websites when they work right, or a tablet. We've been in discussions with our team and our parent company to make their audio and video resources available on other platforms such as smart speakers, Apple TV, Chrome Vox, Amazon's Kindle devices and Roku to name a few. We have a major conference coming up next month. Let's see if they announce availability of their audio and video media on additional devices and platforms.
