[DTB-Talk] JAWS and BARD Express

Lloyd and all,

This advice worked but there is a little more to it. As near as I can tell, the default behavior of JAWS must have changed with version 201906 so it is necessary to create a customized list view. This is, of course exactly what Lloyd said. As he said, press JAWS KEY plus F2, and arrow down to Customize List View and press ENTER. After that, go through the list of column titles that are shown and check the ones that you want to have read. When done, press OK. Additionally, you may need to make sure that the columns are in the BARD Express views that you want to read as well. If you were getting the results you wanted before JAWS 201906 and did not experiment with the columns in the view, you may not need to do anything. To check the BARD Express view, press ALT-V, and then UP ARROW once to "Column Configuration", press ENTER, and check the column titles you want in the view. Then press OK.

This has seemed to bring back the old behavior for me. Thanks for sending me in this direction, Lloyd.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

Here is what Don Olson says:

1. while in BARD Express, press insert+F2.
2. down arrow to customize list view and press enter.
3. Tab to the ok button and press enter. You will see that the list views are working properly again.

Since updating to the most recent version of JAWS, I can no longer hear all columns on the views of books in BARD Express when using UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW. I seem to only hear the book title. I have made certain I have the advanced display option checked in the preferences, that I have all desired columns included in the view, and I do here all columns when using NVDA. I am thinking that a JAWS default may have changed but don't know which setting it would be. I'll send a note off to JAWS support, but thought it might be worth a check here in case someone has already found the answer.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson
