[Electronics-talk] New iPhone Model Now Accessible to the Blind

I ran an AT&T 6650 with Moble Speak. It worked well. I also tried
Wayfinder on it. The software ran just fine, but the flip phone factor got
in my way. I didn't want to be walking down the street at a good clip
carrying an open flip phone that would cost me a couple three hundred
dollars to replace. What I hadn't thought of was that when one closes the
phone, it dumps whatever aps are running and goes to an initial screen. I
had hoped to be able to just set my view in Wayfinder, close the phone,
stick it in my pocket and listen to it on the speaker or with a Jawbone
bluetooth earpiece. It closed Wayfinderevery time and I couldn't come up
with a mechanism to solve the problem. Neither could the folks at the AT&T
store.
I let the phone go back before the trial period was up. Now I am fighting
with AT&T to get them to acknowledge that we don't actually have a two-year
contract and I am shopping for an open phone.
I am tempted to try the iPhone just for giggles.

Hi David and All,
So this is very interesting about the I-phone! Just a few days ago I bout a
Nokea 6650 and am planning to download mobile speak on to it but now I am
wondering if I should return the 6650 (you have 30 days) and try the
I-phone. Since it is so new there is probably very little information on
how people are doing with it.
Any thoughts anyone?
Thanks,
Christie
