I am so interested in learning about which phones are best. Presently I have
Verizon as my phone carrier. Then too, I would like to learn about
accessible kitchen appliances as well.

The main problem with these units is reception of DTV signal. Because
of the reduced bandwidth of DTV signals, and because broadcasters are
using much less power to transmit these signals, as opposed to analog
signals, it is unlikely that reception with an indoor antenna will be
acceptable. I have tried these units, as well as stand alone DTV sets,
all with unacceptable performance with an indoor antenna. The only
dependable way to receive DTV signals is with an outdoor antenna or via
cable or satellite broadcasting services.

There is a special TV tuner that you can buy with an external antenna
that
you install through the media center of the computer. This is generally
accessible with your screen reading software although from what I
understand
sighted assistance is needed for the initial installation and
configuration.
The cost is about $100.

The pharmacist still has to manually read the information into the script
talk container, which requires exhaustible power to operate.
I would recommend using the Pen Friend, and having the pharmacist dictate
the information into the Pen Friend and it's related labels. The entire
ensemble is less expensive, and far more flexible.
Look into it.

Good Evening, List!
I have been reading some about ScripTalk, a prescription medication
identifier and reader; a special tab is put on the bottle by the pharmacist
and it allows the person using the ScripTalk reader to read the information
on the bottle as well as any associated material concerning instructions and
side effects, etc.
I heard that Walgreen's has piloted it and that they my be ready to expand
the areas that will have access to using this device. I think, though I am
not certain, that Walgreen's will purchase the readers which people can use,
rather than the user purchasing the reader him/herself, unless that is
his/her preference.
The ScripTalk reader costs $225 for the user's unit, and the pharmacy by-in
for the bar-code-type tagging system, etc. is $495. Anyone know anything
more about this? Thanks!
Susan Tabor

Hello,

Does anyone have the "talking IPOD? I think it is called Itouch?
I am a bit chagrined to have to buy a new IPOD if I want the talking
feature but I am curious how it works.
Thank you Susan

there are two "types" of talking ipods.
One is the ipod nano. This is mostly just a music player, and only
the music player features are accessisble. The nano is a dedicated
music player.
The ipod touch is the same as the iphone, without the phone. That is,
it has a touch screen, runs lots of applications and games, has a wifi
connection, etc.
I have the iphone, and find it easy enough to use, but a lot to learn
if you just want a music player.
I haven't played with the ipod nano.
