That's why I loved bank of America but we don't have Bank of America in our
area. Chase bank also has accessible machines.

Dear All,

Bank of America has very accessible ATM's.
They use the normal "phone pad" layout with and extra strip of keys running
down the right side with raised graphic symbols on them.
Someone at the bank is assigned to be a trainer and will train you to do all

of the functions from cash withdrawal, shifting funds to and from accounts,
bill paying and making deposits.
If a bank only has one ATM, they are required to make it accessible, even if

it is in the drive up lane.
Braille is good, but having the keys marked is the most helpful thing as
there is not enough space on the machines for a full instruction manual and
most Blind people can not read Braille well enough or at all.
Some ATM manufactures can furnish such instructions to you, but you are just

not going to find allot of Braille on them.
Most ATM's talk you through the steps to do whatever transaction you want to

do, after you make a selection from their menu.
You will need to bring your own ear buds or you will need to go inside the
bank to get some. Banks have different polocies on providing such ear buds.

As transactions are suppose to be private and confidential, there is no
requirement for them to have or use speakers. After all, you don't want
everyone in the area able to hear your account numbers, answers to security
questions or pin numbers.

You also need to know , just where on the ATM to insert your bank card, any
deposits and to receive your cash and receipts. Also what you can expect
from the machine. You need to take your card out of the machine right away
as some machines will suck your card back in , if you leave it there too
long, and keep it or shred it to prevent your card from being found by
someone else and used. Also, you don't want the machine to drop your money
out and let the wind blow it away.
Also beware of sudden new changes in the look or feel of your ATM as there
are people out there who are fitting small cameras and card readers to ATM's

to steal your card account numbers, pins and passwords. Report anything you

think is suspicious to the bank and maybe use another machines somewhere
else until you are sure it is okay.
I have had my info stolen twice and my cards used and you don't need that
to happen to you.

David Evans, NFBF and GD Jack.
