[Electronics-talk] Accessible Phones for Verizon

Hi, Jim and list,

I'm so long answering this because I went out of town for more than
two weeks. Just before going, I stopped at the Verizon wireless store
and asked some questions. They confirmed that the reception
capability of the Haven is not as good as my 8350 overall. I suspecgt
that I would have had some trouble with it while I was visiting
friends in rural Texas because reception was a bit iffy at my
friends' as it was. I have also had reception trouble in the past at
NFB conventions in Dallas though that's improved lately.

Yes, I know reception can vary. My sister and brother-in-law had
terrible reception before they changed to Verizon wireless. On the
other hand, some friends had bad reception at their home before
leaving Verizon for another company.

I'm not much concerned about reception here locally; ragther, it's
when I'm traveling. If I try the phone and don't travel anywhere
problematic, I could regret it down the road. I'm not especially
happy with the phone I have even for just making calls, so I would
welcome a change--but not yet.
