[Electronics-talk] VoiceSense (wireless?(

There are a few things to consider here. What will you be using your
VoiceSense for? Sure, it may only connect to your router at 54MBS, but
54MBS is still significantly faster than your cable or DSL connection,
so it shouldn't slow down the downloading of your NLS books.
If your transferring files between devices on your network, and they all
support the greater transfer speeds of your router then the VoiceSence
could slow you down.
If you're mostly uploading and downloading things from the web then
54MBS should be more than adequate. If you're copying or streaming files
between devices on the same wifi network then you may see slower
transfer speeds with the Voice Sense.
Routers and wifi devices are always playing catch up with one another. I
have a router that supports up to 450MBS on two channels. I don't think
I have a single device in my house that connects to my router at this speed.
BTW, my understanding of this list is that it's for off the shelf
electronics that are accessible for the blind. It isn't for devices
modified for the blind, so I think discussions of the VoiceSense are
technically off topic for this list. I'm not the moderator, and I'm not
telling anyone what they can and can't post. I'm just explaining what I
think the purpose of the list is, if anyone cares, and why I won't be
posting on this topic any further.
